How to Recover, Report and Block Messages on WhatsApp

Being a daily user of WhatsApp, you must know how to recover, report and block messages on WhatsApp. This application was initially designed to allow smooth messaging between users, but it now has much more to offer. In addition to adding statuses, you can also use this for payment. As the platform grows, the number of users you might not want to hear from is also on the rise. WhatsApp offers users the option of blocking and reporting in order to protect their privacy and security.

We have all used these features at least once or twice, but do we really understand them? Whenever you block someone, they will not be able to text or call you.

Do you know what impact it might have on your past conversations with them? Is it going to delete them? Is there a way to recover them if it does? Or do you want to know how to recover, report and block messages on WhatsApp? Today we will discuss these topics.

Does Whatsapp Delete Your Messages When You Report and Block?

WhatsApp keeps updating and optimizing its interface to make it more entertaining and convenient for its users, just like all social media platforms. Occasionally, you may find that an old feature is removed or replaced with a new one in some of these updates.

One such feature is the ability to block or report someone on WhatsApp. Since it has been updated many times, users who don’t use it often might not know how it works.

It is a common misconception among many WhatsApp users that when you block and report someone on the platform, all the chats between you and this person are deleted automatically.

This is not true at all. If you are using the latest version of WhatsApp, you can be assured that WhatsApp takes your permission before deleting your messages with this person. All your messages with them will remain intact in your inbox if you don’t check the box that says Block contact and delete chat.

Find Out How to Report and Block Someone on WhatsApp

Do you want to learn how to block and report someone on WhatsApp? You’ve come to the right place! This section explains how to block and report a user without deleting their messages from your chat. Here’s how:

Step 1:  Open WhatsApp on your phone.

Step 2: Scroll down the Chats screen until you find the person you want to block and report, and tap open their chat when you find them.

Step 3: Tap on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the screen to reveal the pop-up menu once you’ve opened the chat. Next, select More from the pop-up menu.

Step 4: Tap on it to reveal another menu. Separate options are available for blocking and reporting them from this menu. In order to keep the messages after all this happens, we recommend you follow these steps separately and exactly as we instruct you in the next steps.

Step 5: Choose the second option that says Block. You will be asked to confirm your action when you tap on this option. You can also report this contact simultaneously in this box; all you need to do is check a small box.

Step 6: However, doing that will delete all conversations between you two. So, unless you want that to happen, leave the box unchecked and tap on BLOCK, and this contact will be blocked from sending you any more messages or calls on WhatsApp.

Step 7: Click the More menu once again by repeating step 3. Select the first option that says Report.

Step 8: A confirmation dialogue box will appear on the screen. Also, this box will have the following message next to it: Block contact and delete chat.

Step 9:  By default, this box is checked, but if you want to preserve your conversation, you must uncheck it before you click Done.

Congratulations. Your conversation with this person has been blocked and reported from your WhatsApp account but remains safe in your chats.

Remove Conversation from Archived

  • Launch “WhatsApp” on your device.
  • Click on the “Chat Tab”.
  • Tap the “archived chat” option at the bottom of the page.
  • You will now see a list of conversations from the archive section that contains the one you are looking for.
  • You can extract it from the archive list by tapping on the “chat” or “conversation”.
  • At the top right corner of the conversation, tap the “box icon”.
  • That’s all there is to it, and you can now view the conversation you want.

If you did not find what you were looking for in the archived section, you might need to use another process called BACKUP.

Deleted conversations with blocked contacts can be recovered from Google Drive backup if they were deleted recently. Here are the steps you can follow:

Recover Conversation from Google Drive Backup

  • Open “WhatsApp” on your device.
  • Tap on the “chat tab” at the top left corner.
  • From the drop-down menu that appears, select the Settings option from the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
