If you think about it, a sent message sound can’t possibly bother you. It’s either you’re annoyed by all in-app sounds or you’re very busy and don’t want any sound interrupting you at all, and we have a solution for both of you.

We cannot turn off the WhatsApp sent message sound individually for iOS users, but if you’d like to get rid of all the other in-app notification sounds as well, we can certainly do that for you. This list also includes sounds associated with receiving new messages mid-chat. Not a fan of them either? Let’s start getting rid of the in-app notification sounds on WhatsApp.

Due to the difference in the user interface for Android and iOS, we’ll discuss the steps you need to follow on both devices separately

For Android users:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone, and click on the three dots icon next to the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner. Tap it to open it.

Step 2: You will see a pop-up menu on your screen with multiple options. Tap on the last option on the menu to go to the Settings tab.

Step 3: Select the About menu when you’re on the Settings tab.

Locate Notifications, which has a bell icon next to it. Tap on it to view your Notification settings.

Step 4: In the next tab, you’ll find the first option of Conversation tones with a toggle.

This toggle switch is always on by default, enabling WhatsApp to play sounds with all incoming and outgoing messages.

All you need to do is turn this toggle switch off and the sounds will stop.

For iOS users:

Among many other differences between Android and iOS devices, another major difference is that WhatsApp does not have an option like Conversation tones. Does that mean you cannot change the sound of a sent message here? Certainly not. You’ll find that almost all basic features exist on both Android and iOS devices, even if their names and locations might vary a little.
